The Eastern Canada Highland Dancers’ Alliance (ECHDA), was founded in the late sixties by Mrs. Evelyn Murray, Mrs. Sheila Conway and Mr. Gordon Hall, in order to promote, preserve and advance the art of Highland Dancing in its traditional form as recommended by the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing.  Also, to promote friendship and the exchange of ideas among Highland Dancers and maintain proper conduct of Highland Dancing competitions according to the rules set out by the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing.
